Your first workshop

Your first workshop

Start with an ordinary stock Workbench and a separate backed-up test world. No fuel, power network or nearby storage is needed for Mega Bench.

1. Craft and place Mega Bench

At the stock Workbench, combine 8 Iron Ingots, 4 Copper Ingots and 12 wood trunks. The base recipe takes 5 seconds; higher Workbench tiers apply the source station’s native time adjustment.

Place the bench on supported ground and press F while nearby. Opening the library does not automatically import the physical workbenches you already own.

2. Unlock your first capability

Choose Workbench in the left panel. Its original unlock costs 4 wood trunks and 3 rock. Bring those ingredients, then use Unlock workbench beneath the source list.

This pays once for your Workbench capability in this world. It does not produce another physical Workbench. Selecting a locked station previews its recipes and requirements without allowing crafting.

The left panel shows the unlock payment. The right panel independently previews the selected crafting recipe.

3. Browse and craft

Use the original Workbench tabs or search for a recipe. Select its icon in the centre, then check the original inputs, output and required tier on the right. Choose the quantity and use Craft.

The live inventory panel is a preview. Close the library to rearrange items in the normal inventory. A full batch needs its ingredients and output space before it can begin.

Search by an item name, check the counts on the right, then craft. This example shows three Iron Ingots ready for one Bear Trap.

After the native craft completes, the three ingots have been consumed and the trap appears in the inventory preview.

4. Invest in your next tier

Select Workbench, then Upgrade in the left panel. Tier two costs 30 Copper Ingots, 20 Iron Ingots and 20 Linen Scraps, followed by a 5-second upgrade. Higher-tier recipes remain locked until the paid upgrade finishes.

The upgrade panel lists all original materials and its five-second duration before you pay.

The next useful goal is another supported station. Unlock it from the left panel using its original bench recipe and prerequisites. Crafting a physical station as a recipe in the middle does not grant that capability automatically.
